Students should have about 30-45 minutes of homework each night, but I try to give class time to get started on an assignment. Many students will use that time to get their work done so they don't have anything to do at home. There are a few students who may have more homework than others possibly due to being out of the class for BAND, or if they don't use their time wisely. Let me know if you are seeing any problems with homework.
Socio-emotional goals: We encourage students to:
make eye contact while talking or listening to another person.
Please make sure your child dresses appropriately for school. We seem to have many students who come to school without coats or gloves on cold days.
Please send in Boxtops! Our school uses the money to purchase things for our PE program, library, and activities for the kids. Every little clip of a boxtop helps!
If you check the REMIND tab, you will find all messages that I send to the class participants.
Students who are in band need to remember that "Band is not an excuse" for not having homework completed on time. If it becomes a problem, our band teacher will be notified and the student could possibly be removed from band.

****************************Don't forget that Friday is an early dismissal day. 11:20 am Students may bring a snack/lunch or get a school sack lunch in case they are going somewhere lunch is not available.
Don't miss the CM Homecoming Parade on Friday. Starts at 3 p.m. at CM and runs down 2nd Street to downtown Bethalto.
BAND is now meeting on a regular basis. Students will have band two days a week.! Students should bring their instrument to school. Phone calls will not be allowed for students to ask for instrument to be brought to school by parent.
Something very important that I need band students to understand is that BAND IS NOT AN EXCUSE for not having their work completed on time. Band students are out of the room for 30-40 minutes on band days. It is THEIR RESPONSIBILITY to ask a neighboring classmate to write down information that they may have missed. All assignments will be discussed before packing up for the day. Please stress this to your child so that there is no misunderstandings. Band is a privilege and students who are unable to handle the responsibility of being out of the classroom during instruction will be removed from band.
Just a reminder that we do have a room that is chilly throughout the day so it would be advisable to have a jacket here at school so that if it's one of those moments, they can wear a jacket in class.
Water bottles are allowed in class as long as students aren't bringing soda and that the bottles have a cap on them.
Please sign up for Remind texts. Instructions are below.
